Grand Master Seiichi Tanaka and his San Francisco Taiko Dojo performed at the 2017 Richmond Folk Festival, bringing East to meet West to meet East Coast. Taiko is an ancient Japanese form of ritual drumming.

Grand Master Tanaka is highly lauded, having received a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, our nation’s highest honor for folk and traditional artists, and the Order of the Rising Sun, Japan’s oldest national decoration.
