We went down to Friday Cheers June 24 on Brown’s Island to see/hear Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings. It was our second live Sharon Jones performance, the first being at the National. Although the lineup was a little different the performance was again electrifying and mesmerizing. I challenge anyone – anyone – to go to a Sharon Jones performance and not move with the rhythm, even if it’s just a little wiggling of the knee. It’s an uplifting experience to witness so much vocal power and kinetic energy pouring out of arguably the greatest soul singer performing today.
