Shadow Wing

Butterfly Chair, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.

I love strong shadows in photographs, drawings and paintings. It’s something that drew me to “fine art” photography at the very beginning of art school. The strong black shapes can totally anchor a composition. In this image the shadow is everything… cast by a wonderful steel “Butterfly” chair, one of two that flank the entrance to the Conservatory at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. I don’t yet have the chair designer’s name, but I’l get it soon and update this post.
