Autumn Olive (Elaeagnus umbellata), native to eastern Asia, is a double-edged sword. It is a non-leguminous nitrogen fixer; salt-tolerant for coastal erosion control; multitudinous fruits are great for jams and very high in lycopene; very invasive and non-desirable in the North American landscape.
