Usually Fall is the best time of year to see prolific bursts of fungi in the forest. But yesterday – from a distance – this growth looked like the the most alien neon intense puffball fungi colony ever.
However, upon close inspection it’s just a huge pile of cheesy tater tots or cheese puffs. Some inconsiderate visitor to Deep Run Park dumped enough tater tots to feed a village at the base of a tree. It’s possible the culprit considered it was a gift to the animals, however it looks like the animals so far are rejecting the unnatural offering.
