The Best Type of Power Surge

Shandra Barrett brought her team of Dominion Power customer service associates to the Lewis Ginter Community Kitchen Garden yesterday – including several who drove all the way from Norfolk. Dodging the threat of rain, Shandra and her seven teammates joined several other volunteers to harvest green beans & yellow squash, feed the zucchini and tomatoes, tie tomato vines to stakes and help continue our perpetual inspection campaign intended to eliminate squash bug eggs.

This day’s harvest of 86 pounds of produce brings our year-to-date total harvest to 694 pounds.

We’re working to become a 100% organic garden, and manual intervention (inspecting the plants for signs of pests) is an essential part of the process.
