Happy St. Patrick’s Day

We were very happy today as a lucky group of seven planting Red Pontiac potatoes in the Lewis Ginter Community Kitchen Garden. We planted 335 seed potatoes and/or cuttings. While there’s no guarantee all will sprout and produce, we had some very strong eyes (potato eyes) on our cuttings, and the volunteer crew took great care with the planting. With a little nurturing we hope this effort will produce a nice delivery of new potatoes by the end of May for FeedMore’s Community Kitchen.

A sea of Emerald Isle green serves as the backdrop for the potato plot.
BobbiJo Jackson and her daughter Carly Tignor place the Red Pontiac seed potato cuttings in the furrows.
